K Dock in our marina is home to approximately fifty boats, both power and sail. The boat owners, generally speaking, are cordial and helpful to one another. Well, years ago I met Bob, one of the owners on our dock. After our initial introduction, Bob greeted me with a "Hi Stan". I politely corrected him saying my name was Dennis. After about the third time Bob gave me the "Hi Stan" greeting and he was corrected, I figured to him I was a Stan. No big deal.
Days later after telling the Admiral about the funny misnomer situation, we're walking by Bob's boat and he appears. He greets us with a "Hi Stan". The Admiral quickly says to him, "Hi Bob. I'm Stan's wife Sue." That sealed the deal. I'll forever be Stan in Bob's mind!
