AND THE BEAT GOES ON, TRIP #92

An early departure allowed us to venture to Catalina's west end and settle in at Eel Cove. Eel is between Lion's Head and Little Geiger and has a sand bottom which is excellent for anchoring. We were the only boat there. The water was warm, the visibility was great and the fishing did not disappoint. It doesn't get any better than this.

GONE FISHIN'

Told the Admiral upon my return that today was the best day fishin' in a long time, even though I didn't catch anything. Boy, did I have the hookups. Fought a jumping thresher shark for about 15 minutes. Got it to the boat and was thinking, "Now what?" Just then the line snapped and he descended into the deep. Oh well, maybe that was a blessing. The hookups resumed, lines continued to break and my lighter rod was spooled. They were biting, I was fishing but not catchin'. But like they say, "It ain't the catchin', it's the fishin' ".
