THE PERFECT SUMMER DAY

Despite the frickin pandemic and everything that comes along with it, the Admiral and I ventured out for an afternoon sail. The conditions were ideal: 15-20 knot wind, almost zero chop, sunny skies and a temp somewhere in the low 70's. Under genny alone we enjoyed a great day on the water.

Work continues on building and completing the Wheeler Reef along the San Clemente coastline. It's a major project that has taken several years to complete and should really help the marine life. We sailed by a tug and barge of rock being hauled from the Catalina east quarry for placement on the reef. Chipping away the island, one rock at a time! Stay safe.

WEEKDAY GET-A-WAY

Newport Harbor has turned into one of our favorite anchorages for a quick and safe excursion. We recently returned from a two night trip. The conditions were perfect for our mid-summer, virus lockdown journey. There was plenty of activity with the SUPs, yakers, Thursday night Beer Can racers, and other boaters but the evenings were calm and quiet. Good little get-a-way.

Recent high tides and big surf pushed tons of sand onto the Newport beaches. This pic was taken from  the Newport Pier.
