MARINE PLUMBING 101

We replaced the boats toilet late last year because of intermittent blockages. Recently it malfunctioned again. This shouldn't happen with a new head, unless, ah ha, the blockage is between the toilet and the holding tank. So today I removed the discharge hoses and was amazed at what was found. Thirteen years of build-up had taken its toll.

All looks fine here but why doesn't it work?

Looks like a clogged artery. That's 13 years of yuck build-up. Both hoses were replaced.

This valve was completely cleaned out and is better than new.

REUNION ON THE WATER

The BASTARDS (Bronco Alumni Sailing Team And Reunited Deviates Society) got together yesterday for an afternoon sail. The Inspector guided us in light air as stories were told of yesteryear. Let's hear it for the good ole days!

CONTINENTS ARE NICE BUT ISLANDS ARE BETTER

A long weekend, fair weather, understanding better-halves and a nearby island allowed el Jeffe, JD and the capt to make a brief escape to Willow Cove on Santa Catalina Island. Good times.

The water was chilly with great visibility and anchoring conditions.

The  "daytime grabber" did not disappoint.

A jubilent crew celebrate the early departure of JD.

A FEBRUARY WEEKEND

The Admiral and I experienced two completely different days this weekend. Saturday was a windy, choppy afternoon on the water. Sailing with only the genny, we reached speeds in the low 7's maxing at 7.3 knots. Sunday was not as windy with minimal chop, perfect for spotting whales. We shadowed three grays down the coast of San Clemente, watching them frolic as they made their way south. In addition, we were treated to a most terrific sunset. No complaints here.
