AFTERNOON SWEETNESS

Warm day, clear skies, calm sea and a boat...let's get on the water. S and D had a beautiful afternoon sail.

Reaching back to the "barn".

Got back to our home to see the sunset. Great day!

BURRRRRRR

With the temps in the 50's at night and low 60's by day, there was no swimming on this, our 125th Catalina trip. That worked out fine as we did our daily hikes, fished a little and talked to various people (a couple from England and The Falcon Guy Dave Long were the most interesting) including our buddy harbor patrolman William. Harbor Will always fills us in on the local scuttlebutt. We also visited the recently remodeled Zane Grey hotel and conference center, very nice job.

Full moon rising.

Our mooring #108 was right in front of the Tuna Club.

There were very few boats in the harbor except for the locals. How often is the dinghy dock this empty?
We saw one whale and many dolphins on the trip to and from the island. Look closely at this pic and you'll see a reflection of the clouds and boat in addition to the dolphins.

CHRISTMAS IN NEVADA

For Christmas we ventured to southern Nevada to visit friends Mark and Ann. They live in Minden but we stayed close by in the little town of Genoa. Get the sailing connection? North Sails has a huge operation in Minden but were closed for the holidays. If you're ever in that area it's definitely worth your time to visit Virginia City and JT's Basque Restaurant in Gardnerville. Good times!

HWY 395 required chains/cables for many miles.

Winter wonderland.

Look closely, it's nine degrees outside on our trip home.

The Bucket of Blood Saloon is a must stop in Virginia City.
