The capt recently had a replacement of a 20 year old hip prosthesis. They said the original would last 15-20 years. They were right on. The x-ray below shows the before (on the right) and after (left). The titanium cup, plastic liner and ball (on top of the rod that now is part of the femur) were replaced. The liner, pictured below, was completely worn through. I think it's time to go sailing!
