The Boat
- Serenity NOW is a 2000 Catalina 36 MK-II designed for coastal cruising. She's berthed in Dana Point, CA and since 2003 has made over 130 passages to Catalina Island, with overnight visits to five of the eight California Channel Islands: Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Anacapa, San Clemente and Catalina. We've overnighted at Isla de Cedros off Baja and have explored the coast from Santa Barbara to the East Cape of Baja Sur, Mexico. She has weighed anchor in excess of 285 times. We've put thousands of miles under her keel. She's an ocean-going maritime mobile home and we love her!

Great couple of days on our own in Avalon. Then our good friends, Matt and Laura came over on the Express on Friday. We had a great time with the Emersons.............Fourth of July, Howlands and then Button Shell. It was another super trip across the pond. AND my greatest fear since we bought Serenity Now was starting the crossing in clear skies and having a blanket of fog drop on us in the FREIGHTER Lane. And it happened on our way home. BUT I overcame the fear and in the end "fear was not a factor". However I am NOT anxious to experience the dense fog anytime soon. Great time had by all.

I feel like I'm getting a mini getaway looking at your beautiful pictures that you take when you're able to get out on "Serenity Now"
But I gotta tell you, if I ran into that Buffalo....you would have seen me running down that hill pronto...screaming!!

Trust me Dennis, Matt and Laura walked up to get the "up close and personal" pics...............I was a good 100 yds away just in case they ticked off the Bison and the Bison came running right at me!!!
Hopefully we can plan an end of the year martini cruise with the group before the end of the year. If not we will RING in the New Year with a cruise. Cheers, Sue
