Sailor Jerry, El Jeffe and I had a bumpy, uncomfortable 6 hour crossing to the island and decided to take shelter in Avalon for the night. No sense in ignoring the small craft warning while on the hook. The next morning after a short walk ashore, we were off to Willow Cove. We were the only boat there and spent two nights and two very relaxing days enjoying ourselves. On the return to Dana there was a nice S/SW breeze that helped us make it back in 5 hours. Good times!
Serenity NOW is a 2000 Catalina 36 MK-II designed for coastal cruising. She's berthed in Dana Point, CA and since 2003 has made over 130 passages to Catalina Island, with overnight visits to five of the eight California Channel Islands: Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Anacapa, San Clemente and Catalina. We've overnighted at Isla de Cedros off Baja and have explored the coast from Santa Barbara to the East Cape of Baja Sur, Mexico. She has weighed anchor in excess of 285 times. We've put thousands of miles under her keel. She's an ocean-going maritime mobile home and we love her!
