The Boat
- Serenity NOW is a 2000 Catalina 36 MK-II designed for coastal cruising. She's berthed in Dana Point, CA and since 2003 has made over 130 passages to Catalina Island, with overnight visits to five of the eight California Channel Islands: Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Anacapa, San Clemente and Catalina. We've overnighted at Isla de Cedros off Baja and have explored the coast from Santa Barbara to the East Cape of Baja Sur, Mexico. She has weighed anchor in excess of 285 times. We've put thousands of miles under her keel. She's an ocean-going maritime mobile home and we love her!

Is Avalon busy over Labor day weekend?
Is the Pope a Catholic? This is the grand finale weekend of the summer. Avalon will be a zoo. Good work on the reservation.

I'm starting to get fired up 'bout the opening of lobster season. Time to clean out your freezer of any mystery meat and bring it over to the island. Makes great lobster bait. BTY, we have plenty of cat food and glow sticks from last year.
We'll bring any old meat we got.
So you don't want any more cat food for the locker, eh. :)

Busy sat and sunday but monday may work. Freeways might be a mess. I'll let you know. The Admiral and I got a little time on the water yesterday afternoon. 12-15 kts from the west, smooth sea, clear sky, it was nice. Topped out at 7.2 SOG without pushin' it. Saw a whale too. I'll post a few pics later today.

My dad tells me we plan to stay at Cherry.

I've done well with the bugs there plus it's not to far from the sea cave and leopard shark nursery. Hope the water stays in the 70's.
