This January has been wet, windy and cold but we were getting anxious to cast off the dock lines and spend a few nights somewhere. With a short weather window we decided to venture to Newport Harbor. There's a nice anchorage off of Lido Island in the harbor. When we left Dana the wind was light and from the south. About half way there it shifted and started blowing from the north. Ten, fifteen, twenty. In no time it was 33-39 knots, the Santa Ana's were doing their thing. With a doused genoa and a reefed main we made it safely to NP. Never a dull moment with Mother Nature on the water.
